There seems to be no end in sight, according to some economists. Despite the troubling economic times, Coyle Supply, Inc, located at 3721 Illinois Route 162 in Granite City, has seen an upswing in business over the last year. "We've been able to go after the niche with products and services," said Patrick Coyle Sr., president of the family owned business. "We've improvised and went beyond what other businesses have done to be successful." Coyle said he "cautiously optimistic" about the future. "You never know when you're going to get hit with something, but right now we're growing," Coyle said. One indicator of the success of the business has been its longevity in Granite City. The business, which is celebrating its 40th anniversary, was founded on Oct. 16, 1968, by Jerry Coyle, Patrick Coyle Sr.'s father, and Vince Bishoff. Coyle supply has been recognized by the Chamber of Commerce of Southwestern Madison County as its business of the month for October due in part to its longevity in Granite City. Coyle Supply is a wholesale supply company that supplies pipes, valves, and fittings to industrial facilities in the Midwest and specializes in the sale of valve automation and steam products. Coyle Supply is headquartered at its Granite City location. It has two branch offices, one in East Alton and the other in Springfield, Mo. "We primary serve industrial facilities in primary metals, food and beverage, power, mining, mechanical contractors, many in Fortune 500," Coyle said. Coyle Supply employe 27 workers at its three locations.
